Easy Care Envirolawn is a mix of grasses & drought tolerant flowers. These low growing, low maintenance varieties can be used as lawn, in paths between beds, or for filling any area that needs fast erosion control. It’s highly recommended for covering septic berms.
Season & Zone
Exposure: Full sun to partial shade
Zone: This blend is hardy to Zone 3.
Timing
Sow any time after last frost for fast coverage. Try to avoid planting during prolonged hot weather. Additionally, delay planting in periods of prolonged rain.
Starting
Use 31kg (68 lbs) per acre. 500g covers 355 square feet. Because lawn spaces tend to be large, we recommend erring on the side of caution. It’s a good idea to withhold 15-20% of seeds for filling in any bald areas later. All new plantings should be kept damp. Over-seeding existing lawn may not work, since the seeds need to be in direct contact with soil. We recommend planting these lawn alternatives into freshly prepared top soil. In especially wet springs, we recommend spreading additional Tall Fescue and/or Perennial Ryegrass to ensure proper coverage and germination.
Growing
This blend includes Hard Fescue, Perennial Ryegrass, Phacelia, and Crimson Clover. It makes a great alternative to a standard grass lawn. Left uncut, blooms will feed pollinating insects and provide habitat for wildlife.
