The Okanagan Master Gardeners are a Chapter in the British Columbia Master Gardeners Association of British Columbia. We believe in the sharing the knowledge of sustainable gardening practices, especially in an age of uncertain weather conditions. We actively run gardening advice clinics and community projects. Our biggest community outreach is the hosting of the annual Kelowna Seedy Sunday event. We are now celebrating our 10th year of bringing organic seed growers and much more to the Central Okanagan. During our event we host vendors, exhibitors, run adult and children's workshops. One of our most successful exhibitors is the Okanagan Master Gardener run Seed Swap table, our members save their own seeds to swap, members of the community share and it is through donations like West Coast Seeds that we are able to provide a very popular and educational opportunity to community members who are interested in growing their own produce and plants.

Throughout the day we assist 600 to 800 people. Our focus is to encourage the local community to trade, purchase and plant locally grown seeds. Seeds that were grown and have adapted to our own climate.

Our organization encourages people to get out an garden, whether it is on a balcony or a large outdoor space. We support individuals by answering their questions, running workshops and being supportive to try new things by being outdoors. We encourage people to get their hands dirty and enjoy the benefits of being in a garden.

The Okanagan Master Gardeners are out in the community in April and May and can be found at local nurseries. We run information workshops through the Okanagan Regional Libraries and are always available to answer gardening questions.
