Our Gleeful Gardening program has two sessions annually. Our Spring Session sees participants plan, select seeds, sow, nurture and maintain a garden with a variety of vegetables, herbs, and flowers.
Participants engage in gardening and crafting activities that stimulate thought, encourage creativity, exercise the body, and promote awareness of our outside environment. Individuals are given the option to receive seeds and plants to take care of in their home gardens. This increases their sense of accomplishment, responsibility, and self esteem resulting in improved mental health. Valuable social connections are fostered through in-person interaction.
Our Fall Session sees participants maintain a garden of a variety of vegetables, herbs and flowers. They harvest produce that was planted in the spring session instilling in them a sense of accomplishment and responsibility. Watering and weeding are intergral parts of maintaining a garden and these outdoor activities exercise the body and promote awareness of nature. Various experimental growing projects will stimulate thought and encourage creativity. Participants enjoy a multitude of indoor crafting projects based on the fruits of their labour and a gardening theme.
