An espaliered plant is a fruit or ornamental tree that has been trained and pruned to grow flat, usually against a wall and in a clear pattern. Espalier plants are ideal for fruit production in small spaces. Although these plants produce less fruit than their orchard cousins, the fruit is usually larger and better formed. Producing espaliers is a tricky task, so track down an expert pruner or Master Gardener to help you with this project.
